Our thematic selections : Contemporary Palestinian artists

Whether they are pursuing traditional artistic mediums like embroidery or have adopted the most contemporary innovations, installations and videos, not to mention painting, of course, the predominant mode of expression, as well as sculpture and graffiti, Palestinian visual artists as a group express their passion for life, the beauty of their people, and their refusal to be confined, despite their daily ordeals and humiliations.

Alongside the filmmakers, photographers, musicians, dancers, and even the action artists, the young rooftop acrobats who “fly over the nest of checkpoints” that their country has become, Palestinian visual artists reaffirm the power of their creations as universal art, both from the inside and from the diaspora.

This selection is just a taste of the AWI's rich heritage.
